We are Watersports Guru!
Our StoryBorn from a Love for the Ocean
Watersports Guru was created from a deep passion for the ocean and a lifelong connection to nature. Founder Tim Jack Adams grew up immersed in the surf, golden beaches, and pristine waterways of the Gold Coast and Tweed. After traveling the world and exploring different marine environments, he returned home with a mission: to inspire others to connect with the ocean, adventure, and conservation.
What started as a simple watersports hobby quickly grew into a thriving adventure and education enterprise, dedicated to fun, exploration, and environmental responsibility. Today, Watersports Guru is a leader in providing unforgettable ocean experiences, guided by expert instructors who share a passion for the sea.

Watersports Guru was birthed from my love of the ocean in 2009. My parents said I was body surfing before I could walk, and dolphin calling before I could talk. Being born and raised on the magnificent Gold Coast and Tweed, I grew up enjoying the golden beaches and its surf. After travelling and exploring the planet for a season I returned, having earned my gills as they say; drawn back home by my longing for our pristine oceans and glorious weather.
Watersports Guru began initially from a sports hobby, and through word of mouth has grown into an exciting and educational enterprise; that puts a big smile on many faces and supports local business. It also gives me an excuse to have fun all day!

Since January 2015 I have been a Guru Gal with the pleasure of taking guests out on adventures in the great outdoors. Being able to connect others to nature and immerse myself in it as well has been sensational alongside the GURUs. It is very heart warming being able to provide and share fun & safe experiences for all whether that be in the water, on the water or on land.

I love working at Guru as it charges my social battery and replenishes my salt water itch. There’s no better uniform other than wearing board shorts, crocs and sunnies!
I am grateful to be in a work environment where I can express my passion in marine conservation and immerse in nature alongside such special marine species. My most cherished memories are when I am able to share experiences with others who don’t get many opportunities to swim with turtles or kayak through mangrove forests.
Favourite marine creature: Orcas! An underrated mammallian apex predator we have yet to learn so much from. Their intelligence is on another level, plus they look so cool
Fun fact: The name ‘killer whale’ derives from the original term ‘whale killers’ sailors used to give to describe orcas.
Qualifications:
Double degree in Environmental Science / Marine Science management
Wave 2 Freediver
Open water Scuba Certified
Snorkel instructor
Bronze medallion
First aid and CPR

I’ve been a snorkel guide at Watersports Guru since 2016, bringing her passion for the ocean to life at Cook Island. A marine biologist with experience growing corals and rearing baby turtles in Colombia, she now swims alongside local turtles, sharing her love for marine life with guests.
Her favourite creature? The majestic manta ray, whose graceful movements never fail to amaze her. Working at Watersports Guru gives me the chance to connect people with the ocean in a way that’s both educational, fun and unforgettable. I’m proud to be part of the mermaid team.

I’ve been a snorkelling guide with Watersports Guru since 2018, and every day feels like an adventure! I love introducing people to the underwater world at Cook Island and watching their faces light up when they see a turtle glide by, or a school of fish shimmer in the sunlight. There are too many majestic marine creatures for me to choose a favourite, but if I absolutely had to, it would be the octopus (or any cephalopod!) or a manta ray; our skipper Chris spends so much time at sea that he’s pretty much a marine creature too, and he’s also a favourite. Fun fact: I once spent an entire dive in Mexico mesmerised by a huge green moray eel out of its cave dancing around me. I am a certified PADI Instructor, CPR and First Aid trained, and passionate about marine conservation.

Working at Watersports Guru is so much fun!
I love being out in nature and snorkeling with all the incredible marine life. It’s an amazing place to see green sea turtles. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be leopard sharks and manta rays, which are around in the summer.
My qualifications are PADI Divemaster, Coxswains, First Aid & CPR training. I also love educating people about the importance of the reef and why we shouldn’t touch marine life.
If I’m not diving or snorkeling, I’ll be surfing
I’m a full-time ocean lover!

More Than an Adventure Company
Watersports Guru is not just about adventure—it’s about protecting the environments we explore and educating the next generation.

MACS
Unlike many who simply claim to care about the environment, Watersports Guru founded the Marine Action Conservation Society (MACS)—a not-for-profit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring coastal ecosystems.
- Conservation & Restoration – MACS leads efforts to restore riparian vegetation along Cudgen Creek, a crucial habitat for native wildlife and a natural filter for pollutants.
- Community Activism – Through clean-ups, habitat restoration, and awareness campaigns, MACS empowers locals to take action for their environment.
- Research & Collaboration – Partnering with scientists, MACS supports studies on estuary health, seagrass ecosystems, and marine biodiversity.
- Environmental Education – Working directly with schools, MACS delivers hands-on programs that teach students about the importance of marine conservation.
- Sustainable Future – Every initiative by MACS is focused on long-term ecological health, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy and benefit from thriving marine environments.
Through MACS, we’re making real, measurable change—restoring critical ecosystems, protecting endangered habitats, and ensuring that marine life, from birds to turtles, thrives.

GreenX7
In addition to Watersports Guru, we also founded GreenX7 (Green Exercise)—a revolutionary initiative that highlights the transformative power of exercising in nature.
- Mind-Body Connection – Scientific research proves that movement in nature reduces stress, improves mood, and enhances overall well-being.
- Outdoor Fitness Philosophy – GreenX7 blends physical activity with outdoor exploration, proving that exercise is more than just a workout—it’s a way to connect with nature.
- Nature-Based Programs – From kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding to beach yoga and forest hikes, GreenX7 offers experiences that strengthen the body while calming the mind.
- Inclusive & Accessible – Designed for all ages and fitness levels, GreenX7 encourages everyone to discover the joy of outdoor activity.
- Science-Backed Benefits – Studies show that people who exercise outdoors have lower stress levels, improved focus, and greater motivation than those who work out in a gym.
GreenX7 is more than just a fitness program—it’s a lifestyle movement, helping people reconnect with nature, movement, and mindfulness in a way that benefits both the individual and the planet.
